Police Inspect Abandoned Motorcycle Near Turag River; PBI Cross-Checks Dweep's Interrogation Log

Investigating agencies probing the death of former Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Suri have recovered an abandoned motorcycle approximately 50 yards from the Turag River bank in Uttarkhan, Dhaka, and are currently verifying whether it belonged to the deceased officer.

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has launched a shadow investigation alongside the primary investigating unit, the River Police. The motorcycle was retrieved from the Mazar Basti area near Rajabari Ghat in Uttarkhan, the location where Tahsif's body was recovered from the river on Wednesday afternoon, October 28. Detectives believe that confirming the registration and ownership of the motorcycle will yield vital clues regarding Tahsif's last movements, route to the riverbank, and potential accompaniment.

Concurrently, PBI Dhaka Metro North is interrogating Tahsif's companion, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dweep, who was taken into custody from his Mohammadpur residence late Thursday night. CCTV footage confirmed that Tahsif left his Uttara Sector 18 residence on Tuesday evening, October 27, following a call from Dweep, with both departing on separate motorcycles. PBI officers are cross-referencing Dweep's interrogation statements with digital call detail records (CDR), location logs, and CCTV footage.

Tahsif, a former BAF Flight Lieutenant, had drawn widespread public attention on August 5, 2024, for recording and circulating video footage during the departure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, an incident that subsequently led to his discharge from the Air Force. While initial inquest reports noted no visible external wounds beyond nasal bleeding and abdominal distension, investigators emphasize that final conclusions regarding whether the death was homicide, accidental drowning, or suicide await comprehensive post-mortem and forensic analysis.
