President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for stepped-up research and innovation in emerging technology sectors—including Artificial Intelligence (AI), nanotechnology, biotechnology, and semiconductors—to ensure they serve the public welfare.

During a courtesy call at Bangabhaban by a Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) delegation led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Masud, the President emphasized the need to regulate AI use, warning that uncontrolled application can diminish human creativity and thinking capacity. He advocated for decentralized advanced education beyond the capital and stressed the importance of actively involving universities in national-level research and development (R&D). During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the President on KUET's academic activities and formally invited him to attend the upcoming university convocation as Chancellor, an invitation the President accepted.
