Prime Minister-approved twin development projects for Dhanmondi Lake have officially commenced in the capital, beginning with comprehensive lake desludging and re-excavation operations at Dhanmondi 3/A on Tuesday.

Announcing the launch, Dhaka-10 MP and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping Sheikh Robiul Alam stated that detailed engineering designs have been finalized to upgrade the lake into a state-of-the-art urban leisure space. Under the comprehensive plan, the lake will feature modernized and extended walkways, upgraded cafes, side-wall repairs, water purification systems, decorative lighting, speedboats for children, and improved green landscaping. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Freedom Fighter Md. Abdus Salam added that the initiative includes surrounding infrastructure upgrades across Dhanmondi, alongside the construction of 'Nazrul Mancha'—an open cultural center modeled after Rabindra Sarobar, complete with a library, cafe, study area, and performance stage. Both leaders emphasized civic responsibility, calling upon local residents and visitors to refrain from littering to maintain environmental cleanliness across the newly developed lake complex.
