Bangladesh has urged Montenegro to recruit skilled Bangladeshi personnel across key economic sectors to help satisfy the European nation's annual labor demand of over 50,000 workers.

The proposal was presented during a courtesy meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid and Montenegrin Member of Parliament Gordan Stojović at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Monday (October 5, 2026). Discussions focused on establishing a formal government-to-government (G2G) recruitment framework, simplifying work permit issuance, and concluding a comprehensive bilateral labor migration agreement covering tourism, construction, hospitality, and healthcare services. Both sides agreed to establish a "Bangladesh-Montenegro Parliamentary Friendship Group" to deepen parliamentary diplomacy, exchange delegations, and foster people-to-people ties. On trade expansion, Montenegrin representatives expressed interest in importing Bangladeshi ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, ceramics, and jute products. State Minister Shama Obaid highlighted investment opportunities in Bangladesh's agro-processing, seafood, eco-tourism, renewable energy, and waste management sectors, while both delegates reaffirmed commitment to cooperation in education, sports, climate change adaptation, and multilateral forums.
