Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presided over a high-level meeting at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday morning (October 8, 2026) to address public transport management and road safety across Dhaka Metropolitan Area.

The strategic meeting focused on resolving chronic traffic congestion, modernizing the capital's public transportation network, enforcing road safety measures, and curbing systemic indiscipline across transit corridors. Key cabinet members and high-ranking officials attended the session, including Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Sheikh Robiul Alam, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Habibur Rashid, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister A. B. M. Abdus Sattar, Local Government Division Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan, Executive Director of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) Mohammad Mosiur Rahman, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed.
