Prime Minister Tarique Rahman departed Dhaka early Monday for a four-day official visit to Japan at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties, boost trade, and secure fresh investments. Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and key entourage members, the Prime Minister left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight and is scheduled to arrive at Narita International Airport.

High-level bilateral talks between Prime Minister Rahman and Prime Minister Takaichi are slated for October 27 at the Japanese premier's office, followed by a joint press announcement and an official luncheon. Discussions will center on implementing the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), expanding market access, and fostering cooperation in renewable energy, agriculture, digital transformation, and human resource development. Additionally, the premier will deliver the keynote address at the Japan-Bangladesh Economic Forum and engage with leadership from JICA, JBIC, JETRO, and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.

The itinerary also features industrial tours, including visits to an LNG terminal and power plant in Chiba, as well as the headquarters of UNIQLO and a Toyota factory in Nagoya. Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) spanning agriculture, fisheries, civil aviation, and environmental conservation are expected to be signed during the tour, marking another milestone in the long-standing partnership between Dhaka and Tokyo.
