Priority Placed on Sending Trained Workers to Malaysia, Says Labor Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury
Labor and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury addresses journalists during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Sunday.

Labor and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has declared that the government will prioritize sending appropriately trained and skilled workers to Malaysia in accordance with specific employer demands, aiming to eliminate past irregularities and syndicate manipulation.

Addressing reporters during a press conference at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (October 4, 2026), Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury emphasized that worker recruitment for the newly reopened Malaysian labor market will proceed through the Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) along with authorized recruiting agencies. He noted that sending untrained labor previously resulted in worker harassment and exploitation, prompting a new system where Malaysian employers select candidates matched directly to their technical specifications following localized training. Furthermore, the Labor Minister announced that the government will establish an Employment Exchange Center within this year to create a centralized database bridging job seekers and industrial demand, while confirming that a new Minimum Wage Board will be formed by the end of October after consulting key industry stakeholders.
