The President made these remarks during a courtesy meeting with a delegation from Dhaka University, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.B.M. Obaidul Islam, at Bangabhaban on Sunday (October 4, 2026). Highlighting Dhaka University's historical status as the center of Bangladesh's politics, culture, and academic heritage, President Alamgir urged university leadership to raise educational standards and elevate the institution to international prominence. During the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Professor Obaidul Islam extended congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as President, provided an overview of current academic activities, and formally invited him to preside as Chancellor over the upcoming 54th Convocation of Dhaka University. The President accepted the invitation, assuring his presence. High-ranking officials, including the President's Military Secretary, Secretaries, Press Secretary, and Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor and Treasurer, were present at the meeting.
