
The second day of the "Bay of Bengal Conversation 2026" commenced on Sunday (October 4, 2026) at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, featuring five simultaneous closed-door panel sessions and key policy addresses by global diplomats, scholars, and governance experts.
Organized by the Center for Governance Studies (CGS), the fifth edition of the three-day international conference—inaugurated on Saturday (October 3) by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman under the theme "Fragments, Frontiers, Futures: Navigating Power, Technology, and Trust in a World Rewritten"—runs through Monday (October 5). Day two features prominent speakers on the main stage, including former Indian Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar, Head of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh Ambassador Michael Miller, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, and former Serbian President Boris Tadić delivering the Bay of Bengal Lecture titled "Between Power and Principle". Strategic panels scheduled across the day cover female leadership in local governance ("Who Gets to Lead?"), artificial intelligence in state architecture ("Who Decides When the Model Decides?" featuring Prime Minister's Advisor Rehan Asif Asad and UNESCO Representative Susan Vize), and global democratic resilience featuring Former Prime Minister of Mali Moussa Mara and CPD Distinguished Fellow Debapriya Bhattacharya.
