Dhaka Metropolitan Police officers escort arrested suspects following special anti-crime drives across the capital.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 427 individuals and filed 54 cases across various police stations in the capital during a 24-hour citywide anti-crime operation.

Releasing the operational summary on Sunday (October 4, 2026), DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Akter Hossain detailed division-wise breakdown of the roundups. Tejgaon Division recorded the highest number of arrests at 89, closely followed by Mirpur Division with 82, Motijheel Division with 55, Wari Division with 54, and Lalbagh Division with 53. Furthermore, Gulshan and Uttara divisions arrested 35 suspects each, Ramna Division recorded 21 arrests, and the Detective Branch (DB) apprehended three individuals. During the raids, law enforcement seized significant quantities of narcotics and evidence, including 54.46 kilograms of cannabis, 524 Yaba tablets, 1.5 grams of heroin, and two mobile handsets. DMP authorities confirmed that legal proceedings against all arrested suspects are currently underway in their respective jurisdictional police stations.
