Squally Winds Up to 60 km/h Expected Across 8 Regions; Signal 1 Issued for Inland Ports
Vessels stationed at a river terminal as cautionary signal 1 remains active across southern waterways.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a weather warning predicting squally winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour accompanied by rain or thundershowers across eight regions of the country until 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

According to the official inland river port forecast released by BMD early Thursday morning, temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the south or south-east at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h are expected over Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar.

Due to the adverse weather conditions—partially driven by peripheral moisture from Cyclonic Storm 'Arnab'—all river ports situated within these eight designated zones have been instructed to hoist Inland Cautionary Signal No. 1. Launch and river vessel operators navigating these waterways have been urged to exercise extreme caution while sailing through coastal and riverine channels.
