The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported three more deaths associated with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from confirmed and suspected measles cases across the country this year to 1,125.

According to the regular health bulletin released by DGHS on Sunday (October 4, 2026), two of the latest fatalities were recorded in Dhaka. During the 24-hour period ending Saturday at 8:00 AM, 1,300 new patients with measles and related symptoms were admitted to various hospitals nationwide. A division-wise breakdown of new admissions shows 496 patients in Dhaka Division, 278 in Chattogram, 131 in Sylhet, 128 in Barishal, 109 in Mymensingh, 75 in Khulna, 64 in Rangpur, and 19 in Rajshahi. DGHS data indicates that since March 15, a total of 174,149 patients with measles symptoms have been hospitalized, of whom 166,908 have recovered and been discharged. Overall, 196,418 suspected measles cases have been registered nationwide since March 15, with 21,748 cases laboratory-confirmed.
