DSCC officials confiscating tools used for illegal road excavation in North Muradpur.

Officials from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) raided a site in the capital's North Muradpur area on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, detaining two laborers red-handed while illegally excavating a public road to install an unauthorized gas connection.

The incident took place on Lal Mia Road in North Muradpur under Ward 52 of DSCC Zone-5.

According to sources in the DSCC Engineering Department, the illegal excavation was being carried out without any city corporation permit under the leadership of Zia Uddin Badal, owner of Sharif Manzil (Holding No. 307, Muradpur, Jurain). Upon receiving tips, DSCC officials launched an immediate drive and caught the workers red-handed.

During the enforcement operation, officials seized two hammer drills, essential electrical wiring, and two trowels used in the unauthorized road cutting. DSCC Spokesperson Md. Russel Rahman confirmed that with the full assistance of the Officer-in-Charge of Kadamtali Police Station, the two detained laborers were handed over to local police for legal processing. He added that DSCC will continue such drives to safeguard public property and municipal infrastructure.
