US Embassy Warns Visa Applicants: Failure to Disclose Social Media Profiles May Result in Application Refusal and Ineligibility
The Embassy of the United States in Dhaka, which issued updated consular security guidance regarding social media disclosures for visa applicants on Tuesday.

The Embassy of the United States in Dhaka has cautioned visa applicants that failing to provide complete social media account information on visa applications could lead to immediate refusal and long-term entry ineligibility.

In a official consular advisory published across its social media channels on Tuesday (October 6, 2026), the US Embassy emphasized that social media screening forms a critical component of national security verification. The advisory highlighted that under US immigration regulations, withholding or accurately failing to disclose social media handles, identifiers, and platform details used over preceding years may result in visa refusal under administrative processing or fraud provisions. Furthermore, omission or misrepresentation of online activity could render applicants permanently ineligible for future US visas. Consular officials urged all non-immigrant and immigrant visa applicants to ensure full compliance and accuracy when filling out DS-160 and DS-260 application forms.
