In a bid to eliminate corruption and ensure administrative transparency, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has selected 18 Sub-Registrars for posting across prime registry offices in Dhaka through a public lottery system.
The lottery draw took place at the Ministry's conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday morning (October 6, 2026), presided over by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Md. Asaduzzaman. The 18 officers were drawn from a nationwide pool of 131 'Category A' Sub-Registrars out of 372 currently serving officers across Bangladesh. Minister Asaduzzaman explained that posting in Dhaka is traditionally regarded as a "prize posting" susceptible to political lobbying and corrupt practices. By introducing a randomized selection process, the ministry aims to establish equal opportunity, dismantle long-standing patronage networks, and restore public trust.
The selected Sub-Registrars include Md. Golam Mortuza (Rupganj), Amayik Babu (Satkhira Sadar), Farida Akhter (Chitoshi), Ajay Kumar Saha (Chuadanga Sadar), Amit Mangal Chakma (Satkania), Md. Russel Mollick (Kushtia Sadar), Gobinda Saha (Monohardi), Md. Masum (Nazirpur), S M Abu Musa (Nabinagar), Naznin Jahan (Shyamnagar), Mohammad Hanif (Daudkandi), Manisha Roy (Pirganj), Sing Mong Thowai (Gachbaria), Rajib Majumder (Gopalpur), Ali Asgar (Munshiganj Sadar), Sharmila Ahmed Shampa (Ghior), Amina Begum (Jessore Sadar), and Tinu Chakma (Fatickchhari). Law Secretary Liaquat Ali Molla, Inspector General of Registration (IGR) Shamima Afroz, and Sub-Registrar Association leaders attended the event. The Law Minister confirmed that similar lottery-based mechanisms will progressively expand to other coveted posting zones nationwide.
