Speaking at a discussion session titled "Youths' Call for a Comprehensive Road Safety Law" held at the Health and Nutrition Sector conference room of the Dhaka Ahsania Mission in Shyamoli, speakers highlighted World Health Organization (WHO) statistics identifying road traffic crashes as a leading cause of death globally for individuals aged 5 to 29. In Bangladesh, the disproportionate involvement of young people in motorcycle accidents—driven by excessive speed, reluctance to wear standardized helmets or seatbelts, and reckless overtaking—has escalated vulnerability levels. Organized under the moderation of Marjana Muntaha, Coordinator of the Ahsania Mission Youth Forum for Health and Wellbeing, panel discussions stressed integrating vehicle safety standards, speed management, user behavior, and post-crash emergency medical care into a single legislative framework. Representatives from the Bangladesh Debate Federation, Mission Green Bangladesh, and the Bangladesh Medical Student Society emphasized actively involving youth perspectives in policy formulation and enforcement to build sustainable road safety awareness.
