Youth Detained While Cutting Wires in Pirojpur, Stolen Goods Allegedly Recovered

 Locals detained a man named Md. Hossain Khan (48) while he was allegedly cutting electric wires of several residential houses near the Adarshapara Jam-e Masjid in the Pirojpur municipal area, and later handed him over to the Pirojpur Sadar Thana police. The incident occurred around 3:30 AM on Friday (September 11).

According to locals, the man was cutting electrical wires of 3 to 4 houses, prompting residents to catch him red-handed and inform the police. A team from Sadar Thana police subsequently arrived at the scene and took him into custody. Locals claimed that wire and various items including telephone, internet, and cable TV wires, as well as household pots and pans, have been stolen from different neighborhoods in the municipal area over the past year, causing anxiety and panic among residents. However, the true ownership of the recovered items and the detainee's involvement in the thefts will be confirmed after an investigation.

Local resident Afzal Hossain Lavlu stated that residents caught him cutting wires near the Adarshapara Jam-e Masjid around 3:30 AM and informed the police. Meanwhile, residents of Ward No. 5 of the municipality reported prior theft incidents involving wires and other goods in the area, including a similar complaint from two houses in the CIPara area last Saturday night. Sub-Inspector (SI) Hasib Hossain of Sadar Thana, who was present at the scene, stated that a man named Hossain Khan has been detained and taken to the police station. Police noted that the incident is being investigated and necessary legal action will be taken against the detainee.
