The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled an illegal smuggling attempt and seized Indian medicines valued at Tk 5,02,425 along the Nalitabari border in Sherpur district on Sunday (September 13) morning.

Acting on a tip-off, BGB members conducted a raid in the bordering Panihata area during the early hours, recovering a large quantity of smuggled Indian pharmaceutical products with an estimated seizure value of over 5 lakh Taka.

Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB) Captain Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nurul Azim Bayezid stated that smugglers attempted to bring the unauthorized medicines into Bangladesh through the remote border route. Highlighting BGB's uncompromising stance, he noted that intelligence surveillance and regular patrols along the Mymensingh-Sherpur border have been intensified 24/7 to eradicate drug trafficking, illegal infiltration, and cross-border smuggling. Operations against illegal contraband will continue unabated to ensure regional security.
