Students Human Chain Demands Removal of Sherpur Nursing Institute In-Charge
Students of the Nursing Institute in Sherpur staged a human chain on Sunday morning demanding the immediate removal of Acting In-Charge Maksudha Yasmin, citing widespread administrative irregularities, arbitrariness, and unfair treatment.
The hour-long protest held in front of the institute featured speeches from student representatives including Hifzul Bari, Saifullah Samin, Fahadul, Anonto, Ubaydur, Koushik, Bishwajit, Ajit, Opu, Sadikul, Adnan, Momin, Musa, Raju, Nira, Rafia, Rupa, Sadia, Puja, and Liza. The speakers alleged that since taking charge, Maksudha Yasmin has subjected students to mistreatment, harsh remarks, and institutional bias. They issued a 24-hour ultimatum, warning of stricter agitations if she is not removed from her position within the stipulated timeframe.
In response, Acting In-Charge Maksudha Yasmin refuted the allegations, telling this correspondent that if any of the accusations brought against her are proven valid through an impartial investigation, she will willingly accept administrative consequences. She further claimed that nursing instructors Gulshan Ara and Sharifa Akter instigated the students to orchestrate the protest, and called upon authorities to conduct a neutral inquiry into the matter.
