Bangladesh Government Strongly Condemns Harassment of Dr. Muhammad Yunus at JFK Airport in New York
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, where diplomatic channels were mobilized to address the incident in New York.

The Government of Bangladesh has issued a strong statement condemning the harassment faced by former Chief Adviser and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York.

In an official statement released on Tuesday (October 13, 2026) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government noted that the individuals involved in the incident appear to be miscreants linked to the banned political organization Awami League. The government expressed deep concern over the incident and urged expatriate Bangladeshis living abroad to refrain from such misconduct toward esteemed national figures.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Bangladesh Mission in New York to engage directly with local US law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible for tarnishing the country's global reputation and to take appropriate legal action against them.
