NCP Convenor and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam MP remarked that the BNP is utilizing the terrorist extortionists of the Awami League, causing extortionists and autocrats to merge into one entity. He made these remarks while addressing a civic rally at the Shariatpur Municipality Auditorium as the chief guest on Tuesday (October 13) afternoon.
The rally was organized to protest the deterioration of the law and order situation, rising fuel and commodity prices, political partisanship in the appointment of fertilizer dealers, job trading, and corruption. Presided over by District NCP Convenor Advocate Mohammad Ruhul Amin, the event was addressed by NCP Northern Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam, National Shramik Shakti Member Secretary Riju Mahmud, Shariatpur District NCP Member Secretary Sabuj Talukdar, and local leaders. Nahid Islam further stated that following the election, the BNP government has resumed discrimination, operating the country through extortion and syndicates just like the Awami League did.
NCP Northern Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam remarked that after the July uprising, when the BNP was elected with a majority, people hoped they would become a government for all of Bangladesh, but instead, appointments and fertilizer dealerships are still being given based on family ties rather than qualifications.
