'Let Mahfils Be Neutral and a Medium of Guidance': State Minister for Water Resources at Olama Dal's Founding Anniversary
State Minister for Water Resources Alhaj Farhad Hossain Azad addresses the discussion meeting marking the 47th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal in Panchagarh.

State Minister for Water Resources Alhaj Farhad Hossain Azad warned that plotting against the government or attempting to embarrass it in the name of religious Mahfils will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

"We are not against Mahfils; rather, we want to extend all necessary support for organizing them," he stated. "However, neutral speakers should be invited to every Mahfil—individuals who do not advocate for any political party but strive to guide people through the accurate interpretation of the Quran and Hadith."

He made these remarks as the chief guest during a discussion meeting organized at the Panchagarh Government Auditorium premises on Saturday afternoon (October 10) to mark the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal.

Urging party activists to remain vigilant, State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad added, "There is no need to speak about our party (BNP) at Mahfils either. Our expectation is that speakers convey the true teachings of Islam to the people. You should identify scholars and speakers capable of delivering accurate interpretations. The government will provide financial and all other necessary assistance for such arrangements."

Regarding funding and participation, the State Minister noted, "People attending a Mahfil do not belong to a single political party; people from all walks of life, including BNP supporters, participate and contribute funds. Why then should speakers favoring a specific political party be brought in? Mahfils should remain completely free from political influence and serve as centers for religious preaching."

Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out to mark the anniversary of Olama Dal. The rally paraded through the town's major thoroughfares before returning to the auditorium premises.

Presided over by Panchagarh District Olama Dal President Mufti Muhibur, the event was attended by Panchagarh District BNP Convenor Md. Zohirul Islam Kachhu, District Council Administrator M. A. Azad Masjid, and Public Prosecutor (PP) of the District Court Advocate Mirza Najmul Islam Kajol as special guests. Hundreds of leaders and activists of Olama Dal from various upazilas and the district participated in the program.
