Rashed Khan, Political Assistant to the Prime Minister, stated that Sheikh Hasina will never return to Bangladesh, dismissing ongoing social media rumors surrounding her potential return.
He made these remarks to journalists on Friday (October 9, 2026) in Barunatoil village, Magura, following a visit to offer prayers at the grave of July martyr Mehedi Hasan Rabbi and to meet his family. Referring to recent posts on social media attributed to Sheikh Rehana, Rashed Khan urged the public not to heed unverified online rumors.
He pointed out that individuals convicted and sentenced to death by courts for their involvement in past violence would not risk returning to the country. He further noted that the political activities of the Awami League have now become entirely dependent on social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube, making it easy to spread false narratives.
During his visit, Rashed Khan assured full state support to the family of Mehedi Hasan Rabbi, the former Magura District Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal joint convener who was killed on August 4, 2024, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement near the Magura-Dhaka Road Bridge.
