National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam has called upon the government to ensure that medical treatment for injured July uprising fighters is not compromised by administrative or bureaucratic red tape.
He made these observations on Tuesday night (October 27, 2026) at around 8:30 PM while visiting Mo. Bappi—a July movement activist who suffered permanent physical disability—at Beraiderchala in Sreepur, Gazipur. He was accompanied by NCP Northern Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam and other senior party leaders.
Nahid Islam emphasized that the present government came to power through the immense sacrifices, loss of life, and physical injuries of ordinary citizens during the July Mass Uprising. Consequently, he asserted that providing comprehensive healthcare to the injured must transcend partisan political interests. He urged the administration to fulfill promises regarding financial support, physical rehabilitation, and long-term socio-political security for affected families, stressing that the state holds a far greater capacity to deliver welfare than individual political parties. He further reminded the government that the nation owes its renewed democratic vision to these fighters, many of whom will never regain complete health, thereby requiring continuous state and civic support. The delegation also included NCP Joint Convener Ali Ahsan Junaid, Dhaka Division North Organizational Secretary Saidullah Haider, Associate Organizational Secretary Shawkat Ali, and Science & Technology Secretary Engr. Nabila Tasnid.
