BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has claimed that opposition political parties have staged fresh "drama" on the streets under the pretext of anti-government movements simply to cover up their internal party feuds and organizational failures.
Addressing a protest rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday (October 17, 2026), organized by the Nationalist Textile Engineers Association of Bangladesh (JATEB), Rizvi asserted that opposition factions are trying to mislead the public instead of offering constructive solutions during national challenges. "Whenever you open a newspaper, you see the opposition's chorus of complaints. They care nothing for national development or public welfare; they are merely seeking excuses to stage street dramas to mask their internal squabbles," Rizvi remarked.
Referring to historical lessons on authoritarianism, Rizvi emphasized that history proves corrupt rulers are eventually forced to flee when citizens unite on the streets. On the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja, he announced that BNP leaders and grassroots activists nationwide have been given explicit directives to remain vigilant and maintain close contact with Hindu community leaders, ensuring an atmosphere of complete religious harmony and security at all mandaps. He reaffirmed that under a reformed constitutional system, no criminal or betrayer will escape judicial accountability. The rally, chaired by JATEB President Engr. Md. Fakhrul Alam, was also addressed by leaders from various professional bodies including the Bangladesh Nurses Association and the Diploma Engineers Association.
