NCP Central Organizer Abdur Rahman Resigns from Party

Md. Abdur Rahman, the central organizer (Southern Region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has resigned from the organization.

He announced his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the party’s convener around 10:00 PM on Friday (October 16). Subsequently, he posted the resignation letter on his personal Facebook account.

In his resignation letter, Abdur Rahman noted that he had joined the party driven by the expectations of establishing democracy, good governance, and a corruption-free state following the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. However, he expressed disappointment regarding NCP’s electoral and post-electoral political stance, organizational activities, and the implementation of its political ideology.

Abdur Rahman alleged that ideological and political confusion within the party has escalated. He felt that NCP’s position on political alliances and core ideals was not aligned with his expectations. Furthermore, differences of opinion arose regarding the activities and political stances of a faction within the organization.

He added in the letter that he had joined NCP with hopes of upholding democratic values, political freedom, and a non-discriminatory state. However, finding the party's current direction inconsistent with those expectations, he decided to part ways. Simultaneously, he expressed hope that NCP would play a historic role in the country’s future democratic progress.

It is worth noting that Abdur Rahman was NCP's parliamentary candidate for the Shariatpur-1 (Palang-Janjira) constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
