"We are playing a role everywhere—in parliament and on the streets—fighting for the rights and democracy of the people," stated Nahid Islam, MP, Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and Opposition Chief Whip.

He noted that extortion and the establishment of territorial dominance are being perpetrated under partisan influence across various parts of the country. He further added that following the July uprising, a bicameral parliamentary system was supposed to be introduced to make parliament effective, for which a referendum was held. However, those crucial aspects are not being prioritized.

As part of a previously announced program, NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam MP led a protest procession along the main thoroughfare of Munshiganj town.

Central leader Sarjis Alam along with other central leaders and local activists were present during the march. In the evening, the procession started from the town's Kacha Chattar and concluded at the Super Market area. Earlier, on Monday afternoon (October 26), he delivered these remarks as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting organized at a community center in Kachari Chattar of Munshiganj town to review the organizational progress of NCP and formulate planning centering on local elections.

Accusing those in power of reducing parliament to an ordinary assembly, the NCP Convener further commented regarding local elections that NCP is preparing to participate in local polls by selecting candidates down to the union level. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to further organize and strengthen the party's structural framework.

Sarjis Alam was present as the chief speaker at the meeting. Special guests included Sarowar Tushar, Advocate Abdullah Al Amin, MP, Shawkat Ali, Ali Ahsan Junaid, and Saifullah Haydar.

Also present were Majedul Islam, Munshiganj District Convener of NCP; Advocate Maruf Islam Monti, Member Secretary; Md. Abul Hasim, Joint Member Secretary; along with leaders and activists from various tiers of the party. The procession commenced from Kacha Chattar in the evening and terminated at the Super Market area.
