Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s team suffered a narrow four-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka Under-19 Women in a last-ball thriller during their second group stage match of the ongoing Tri-Nation Series.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted 119 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. After an early top-order stutter—with openers Maimuna Naher falling for 1 and Achena Jannat scoring 16 off 24 balls—captain Sadia Islam rebuilt the innings alongside Nishita Akter Nishi. Sadia scored a team-high 39 runs off just 22 deliveries, while Nishi contributed a steady 26 off 35 balls. Sadia Akter added 18 off 18 balls to help lift the total to a competitive mark. In response, Sri Lanka’s run chase was anchored by opener Sanjana Kavindi, who played a match-winning knock of 48 runs. Despite initial breakthroughs by spinner Nishita Akter Nishi, who picked up 2 wickets, and one wicket each from Farjana Yasmin and Afrin Mim, the Sri Lankan side held their nerve to chase down the target on the final ball of the 20th over, ending on 120 for 6.
