More than ten cricketers failed the initial phase of fitness assessments conducted on Tuesday (September 22) ahead of the National Cricket League (NCL) red-ball tournament scheduled to begin on October 3.
The first phase of evaluations involved players from Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Mymensingh. Addressing concerns over player participation, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) trainer Iftekhar Ifti confirmed that cricketers who failed or missed the assessment due to illness will receive additional opportunities to retake the test every 10 days. The benchmark for general players has been set at 7.00, while fast bowlers are required to hit 7.20. Trainers will offer focused conditioning and dietary guidance to assist failing players in meeting physical standards before the BCB makes final decisions on NCL eligibility.
