"His Ego Is Eating Him Alive": World Cup Winner Christophe Dugarry Blasts Cristiano Ronaldo
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, whose recent departure from the national team squad sparked strong criticism from 1998 World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry on Tuesday.

Former French international and 1998 World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry has voiced sharp criticism against Cristiano Ronaldo, accusing the Portuguese star's ego of damaging his legacy following ongoing friction within the national team setup.

Speaking on the French radio show Rothen s'enflamme on RMC, the former AC Milan and Barcelona striker expressed deep frustration over Ronaldo's decision to step away from the Portugal squad following a tactical disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. Dugarry stated that Ronaldo's recent conduct sharply contradicts the disciplined, team-first persona he built over two decades at the top level of world football. Characterizing Ronaldo's behavior as a severe lack of respect toward his teammates and country, Dugarry noted that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner had missed the opportunity to exit international football gracefully. He further questioned the message Ronaldo's actions send to younger Portuguese players, criticizing the legendary forward for abandoning his leadership role and creating division over squad rotation and limited playing time.
