Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 16-member One Day International (ODI) squad for the upcoming tri-nation series involving host Pakistan and England, naming Kusal Mendis as captain while dropping former skipper Charith Asalanka following a poor run of form.
Asalanka was left out after managing scores of just 1, 11, and 7 during Sri Lanka's recent ODI series against England. Key all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga also misses out due to an ongoing hamstring injury. In their absence, batter Avishka Fernando and all-rounder Sahan Arachchige have been recalled to the side. Opener Pathum Nissanka has been included in the traveling squad subject to clearing a final fitness assessment following an injury sustained on the England tour. The tri-series is set to commence on October 18, 2026, in Rawalpindi with Sri Lanka facing Pakistan, before confronting England on October 22. The tournament will then shift to Lahore for the second leg, concluding with the final on October 31.
