Pakistan international fast bowler Kainat Imtiaz has announced her formal retirement from international cricket to transition into a career as an official match referee under the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and International Cricket Council (ICC).

The 34-year-old right-arm pacer recently made her official debut as a match referee during the PCB National Women’s U-19 T20 Tournament. Kainat's international career spanned 13 years following her debut in October 2010, featuring in 19 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 21 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Pakistan, claiming 10 ODI and 8 T20I wickets. She was an integral member of the Pakistan squads that clinched gold medals at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou and the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, and represented her country at the 2017 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Her final international appearance came against Australia at the Allan Border Field in January 2023. Kainat follows her mother, Saleema Imtiaz—the first Pakistani woman appointed to the ICC International Panel of Development Umpires—into professional match officiating following prior stints in television broadcasting and commentary.
