Bangladesh Women’s cricket team conceded the three-match ODI series against Australia following a nine-wicket defeat in the second match at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Sunday (October 11, 2026), despite a monumental, record-breaking century from middle-order batter Sobhana Mostary.
After opting to bat first, the Tigresses suffered an early top-order collapse, slumping to 8/3 against lethal opening spells from Megan Schutt and Kim Garth. However, Sobhana Mostary teamed up with captain Nigar Sultana Joty to mount a rescue effort, constructing a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket—the highest partnership for any wicket in Bangladesh women's ODI history and the highest 4th-wicket stand ever recorded against Australia in women's ODIs.
Sobhana struck 18 boundaries during her 134-ball 118, surpassing Nigar's previous national individual scoring benchmark to record Bangladesh’s maiden ODI century on Australian soil. Nigar anchored the other end with a steady 74* off 114 balls to lift the visitors to 220/6. In response, Australia made light work of the target, chasing down 222/1 in just 28.1 overs. Georgia Voll spearheaded the chase with a destructive 131* off 97 balls alongside Phoebe Litchfield's rapid 70, handing Australia an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
