New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled a striking special-edition jersey that the Black Caps will wear during the upcoming five-match ODI series against India next month, marking a century of diplomatic and cricketing relations between the two nations.
Entitled 'Kotahitanga' (signifying unity), the black jersey beautifully blends traditional Maori craftsmanship with rich Indian artistic motifs. Artists Ben Thomason, Shiva Narandas, and Joy Pancha collaborated on the design, incorporating quintessential Indian symbols such as the lotus flower, heritage architectural patterns, and mandala art alongside Thomason’s intricate Maori Kowhaiwhai patterns. NZC Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Glenn Critchley noted that the unique kit symbolizes the deep sporting friendship and shared cultural appreciation between New Zealand and India. India's upcoming tour of New Zealand begins on October 22, 2026, with a five-match T20I series, followed by the five ODIs starting November 4, and concluding with a two-Test series beginning November 19.
