Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain has stated that the efforts of law enforcement agencies alone are not enough to control drugs, and the active cooperation of ordinary people living in the India-Bangladesh border areas is essential.

Speaking as the chief guest at two separate rallies organized by the Binail and Jotebani Union BNP in the border areas of Birampur on Thursday (September 24) afternoon and evening, he remarked that successful drug control is impossible for the police alone without public support. He highlighted that community participation from every level of neighborhoods, families, educational institutions, and social organizations is crucial to building a drug-free society.

Urging citizens to assist law enforcement by providing information against drug dealers and traffickers, the minister reiterated the government's "zero tolerance" policy against drugs. He emphasized that saving the youth from destruction and overcoming this social menace requires collective public cooperation and awareness.
