An allegation of launching an attack, carrying out extensive vandalism, beating, and looting at the residence of a freedom fighter named Ramzan Ali over a land dispute has surfaced in Chatmohar, Pabna.
The incident took place on Saturday (October 31) around 6:00 AM in the Zero Point area of Chatmohar Pourashava. Not only that, the freedom fighter's wife, Jahanara Parveen, and younger daughter, Monira Mukta, were beaten and injured. It is alleged that the attack was carried out by 20 to 25 masked people led by Kamruzzaman Milan, the elder son-in-law of Ramzan Ali.
Upon receiving the news, the police inspected the spot. However, the accused son-in-law has denied the allegations.
According to the victim family and eyewitness sources, freedom fighter Ramzan Ali before his death had deeded the homestead land to his three daughters. The second daughter lives in a house built on her share of the paternal property. Meanwhile, Ramzan Ali's wife, Jahanara Parveen, had long been living in their own house with their younger daughter, Monira Mukta. Recently, Ramzan Ali's elder son-in-law, Kamruzzaman Milan, claimed that his younger sister-in-law, Monira Mukta, had deeded her share to him back in 2016 and that he would build a house there, thereby telling the mother-in-law and sister-in-law to vacate the premises. However, Monira Mukta claimed she never deeded any land to her brother-in-law, accusing him instead of trying to forcefully occupy the house. In this regard, Monira Mukta filed a case in the Pabna court applying for cancellation of the deed.

When they tried to prevent it, freedom fighter Ramzan Ali's wife, Jahanara Parveen, and her daughter Monira Mukta were reportedly beaten mercilessly. The victim family further alleged that wardrobes were broken to loot one and a half bhori of gold ornaments and one lakh seventy-five thousand taka in cash.
Meanwhile, during the incident, the gates of most surrounding houses were locked from the outside to prevent neighbors from coming out, and everyone was threatened and intimidated.
Freedom fighter's wife Jahanara Parveen said, "My elder son-in-law was not deeded the house land by my younger daughter. He is trying to occupy the house by creating a fake deed. As a son-in-law, it is very painful to see him bring outsiders to attack, vandalize, and loot our home, and beat me and my daughter."
Monira Mukta said, "I never deeded the house land to my brother-in-law. He shows a deed, but that deed is fake. I have filed a case in court applying to cancel that deed. Ever since then, he has been intimidating us in various ways. But this time, he brought people to vandalize our home, furniture, and loot money and ornaments. They hit me and my mother. We want justice."
Denying the allegations, the accused Kamruzzaman Milan said, "The house land is mine. My sister-in-law deeded her share to me in 2016. I will build a five-story building there. I have asked them to leave many times, but they are not giving up possession. Therefore, I went with daily wage laborers to work on demolishing the house. No incident of attack took place here."
Regarding this, Chatmohar Police Station OC (Investigation) Lalbur Rahman told Ajker Patrika that the matter of house demolition is true. "I went to the spot myself upon receiving the news. The victims have been asked to come to the station. Legal action will be taken based on whatever case or step they choose to pursue."
