An annual exchange meeting between a civil society platform and various service-providing institutions was held at the Anjuman Mufidul Islam conference room in Gaibandha on Wednesday (October 7, 2026). Organized by Democracywatch under the "Facing" project (Citizen Engagement for Achieving Gender Equality and Eradicating Discrimination) with financial support from the Canadian High Commission and the Embassy of Switzerland and technical collaboration from GFA Consulting Group, the meeting was inaugurated by Gaibandha District Civil Society Platform Convenor Retired Principal Md. Khalilur Rahman.

During the meeting, Democracywatch's Capacity and Outreach Coordinator Md. Abdus Selim presented an overview of violence against women and children in the district, followed by discussions on strengthening citizen roles in preventing such violence, stopping child marriage, achieving gender equality, and eliminating discrimination.

The event was attended by various government and non-government representatives, including Deputy Director of Women Affairs Nargis Jahan and Youth Development Directorate Deputy Director Md. Humayun Kabir, and concluded with participants taking a firm pledge to eradicate violence against women, child marriage, protect the environment, and establish peace.
