At least six people were injured, including one shot and three hacked, during targeted attacks and gunfire at the residences of local Sramik Dal leaders in Ashulia, Savar. The incidents took place late Thursday night across Kathaltala, Manikganj Para in Chitrashail, and Kamruleat intersections in Ashulia over past enmities and internet business disputes.
Among the severely injured is Syed Hasan Mithu, Vice President of Yarpur Union Sramik Dal, who sustained gunshot and sharp weapon injuries to his hands and head. According to witnesses, a group of armed attackers also raided the house of Ashulia Thana Sramik Dal General Secretary Rabiul Islam with the intent to murder him, firing shots and hacking a youth named Hamim.
Rabiul Islam blamed local rival groups led by Habib and Hasan for retaliating against his anti-narcotics activism, though Habib denied any involvement. Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Tarikul Islam stated that preliminary investigations indicate the clash stemmed from dispute over the local internet business, and legal action is underway.
