Police have recovered the body of a 22-year-old youth named Kalu Mia from a fish farm in Sherpur's Sreebordi upazila, a day after he went missing. Following the incident, police detained the victim's friend, Md. Badsha Mia (20), son of Komal Mia from Kurikahunia Dakshinpara village. The deceased, Kalu Mia, was the son of Montu Mia from the same area.
According to local sources, Kalu Mia and his friend Badsha Mia left their homes together on Sunday afternoon. While Badsha returned home later, Kalu remained missing. On Monday morning, local residents spotted Kalu Mia’s floating body in a fish pond owned by Abul Kashem in the Kurikahunia Dakshinpara area and promptly informed the police. Law enforcement rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and detained Badsha Mia on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Sreebordi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nurul Alam confirmed that the body has been recovered and sent to the district sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy, adding that further legal action is currently underway.
