Under the slogan "Let's Green Bangladesh," the Prokriti o Jibon Club has launched a campaign to distribute and plant 2,000 tree saplings to protect the environment and nature in Rangpur. The inaugural program featured a discussion meeting, sapling distribution, and a plantation drive held on Monday (September 21) on the premises of Chandanpat Government Primary School in Rangpur Sadar Upazila.
Presided over by Marina Lovly, Coordinator of the Rangpur chapter of Prokriti o Jibon Club and a journalist, the awareness meeting was addressed by Rangpur Mahanagar Sujon President Adv. Zobaidul Islam, lawyer Shah Sufi Md. Abu Saeed, Bangladesh Kindergarten Society Secretary General Mohammad Ali, Prokriti o Jibon Club Advisor Engineer AKM Fazlul Huq, teacher and journalist Hasem Ali, Chandanpat Government Primary School teachers Khaleda Akhhtar and Masud Rana, Rangpur Art Academy Chairman Shahidul Islam Repit, and Vice-Chairman Abdul Hamid, among others.
Following the discussion, fruit-bearing, timber, and medicinal saplings were handed over to the students. Guest speakers praised the initiative, noting that distributing saplings to young students fosters early environmental awareness, inspiring them to care for trees and contribute to greening their communities. They urged the club to continue such commendable efforts in the future. Later in the day, participants planted timber and medicinal saplings along both sides of the roads in the remote areas of Chandanpat, Sadar Upazila.
