A special breast cancer screening and awareness program was held on Saturday morning (October 10, 2026) at the premises of Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) Residential Model School and College in Nosratpur, Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. Organized by the Rangpur Cancer Foundation with the active cooperation of GUK Hospital, the event featured a discussion meeting and screening camp.

Gaibandha Civil Surgeon Dr. Rafiquzzaman inaugurated the program, while Dr. Moni Rani, Assistant Professor of the Radiotherapy Department at Rangpur Medical College Hospital and a cancer specialist, spoke as the keynote speaker.

Among others, Gaibandha Government College Principal Abdur Rashid, GUK Residential Model School and College Principal Zahurul Kaiyum, and GUK Coordinator Aftab Hossain were present. During the discussion, Dr. Moni Rani highlighted the early symptoms of breast cancer, self-examination, and the importance of regular screenings, emphasizing that early detection can lead to a complete cure through proper treatment. Over four hundred women—including teachers, students, guardians, and GUK Hospital health workers—participated in the event, receiving necessary health advice and breast cancer screenings following the discussion session.
