A case has been filed against 50 named individuals—including Upazila Juba Dal Convener Jaber Ahmed Javed—and 200 to 250 unnamed suspects over an alleged attack, vandalism, and arson at the Lalmai upazila BNP office in Cumilla.

Mohammad Ali Miyazi, general secretary of Bagmara South union BNP, filed the lawsuit on Monday (October 5, 2026) at Cumilla's Speedy Trial Tribunal, which subsequently directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Cumilla, to investigate the matter. According to the case statement, following a Juba Dal procession on September 30, armed participants blocked the Cumilla-Noakhali highway, burned tires, and forced open the BNP office shutter, destroying furniture, ceiling fans, electricity meters, and banners resulting in an estimated Taka 5 lakh in damages. While Juba Dal Convener Jaber Ahmed Javed dismissed the allegations as baseless and denied involvement, plaintiff's lawyer Omar Faruk confirmed the judicial order directing PBI inquiry.
