A cocktail explosion occurred under the cover of night in Satgharia Kandi village under Rajnagar union in Shariatpur's Naria upazila on Sunday night (October 4, 2026), triggering widespread panic among locals. According to police and residents, the loud blast was heard around 8:00 PM near an abandoned banana orchard belonging to Babul Madbar, scorching nearby vegetation and waking sleeping children.
While local Union Parishad member Badsha Madbar suggested the incident might be a planned conspiracy to frame rivals, local women including Salma Begum, Asma Begum, Jahanara, and Sabiha reported hearing the terrifying blast mere meters from their homesteads.
Naria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain confirmed that law enforcement immediately visited and inspected the scene, noting that an investigation is underway although no formal case has been filed yet.
