
Marking Children’s Rights Day and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Munshiganj district celebrated the nationwide observance on Tuesday (October 6, 2026).
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman virtually joined the nationwide programme as the chief guest via video conferencing. A local discussion meeting and conference proceedings were held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, attended by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Syeda Nurmohal Ashrafy, Superintendent of Police Menhajul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sharif Ullah, Additional Superintendent of Police Kamran Hossain, district department heads, teachers, and students.
Speakers at the event emphasized that Shishu Academy has played a vital role over the past five decades in fostering children's confidence, leadership, creativity, and moral values, while urging concerted efforts from families, educational institutions, administration, and society to eliminate child labor, child marriage, and discrimination to build a truly child-friendly Munshiganj.
