
Advocate Touhidur Rahman, the founding president of Jashore Press Club, a prominent lawyer, and veteran journalist, passed away at his Dhaka residence on Monday morning (October 5, 2026) at the age of 90. Born on June 22, 1936, in Narail's Mirzapur village, he began his career as an income tax lawyer in Jashore in 1953 and entered journalism in 1960, serving with the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and later the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) over a 35-year career.
Jashore Press Club President Zahid Hasan Tutun and General Secretary Nur Islam expressed deep condolences, announcing a three-day mourning program featuring black flags, condolence books, black badges, memorial meetings, and doa mahfils to honor his indelible legacy in regional journalism and community service.
