Hundreds of CNG auto-rickshaw drivers blocked the Link Road area of the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway on Sunday morning (October 4, 2026), chanting slogans like "Give us gas, or block the road" to protest severe fuel shortages.

Protesters complained that despite waiting in lines for hours, they frequently return empty-handed, severely threatening their daily livelihoods while receiving no effective solution from pump authorities or local administration.

The sudden blockade near the Faiz Petrol Pump trapped hundreds of vehicles on both sides, causing immense suffering for tourists, commuters, and long-distance travelers. Police and administrative officials rushed to the scene to negotiate with the drivers, who declared that their agitation will continue until a definite assurance of regular and adequate gas supply is provided.
