
A 40-year-old man named Habibur Rahman died from dengue fever while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), bringing the death toll from the disease in the Rangpur Division to seven this season. Habibur, a resident of Fulchhari upazila in Gaibandha, passed away in the hospital's ICU on Wednesday night after being admitted last Saturday following his return from Dhaka.
According to Brig. Gen. Ashikur Rahman, Director of RMCH, and data from the Rangpur Divisional Health Director's media cell, 101 new dengue patients were admitted to various government hospitals across the division in the last 24 hours. From January 1 to Thursday (October 1) morning, a total of 2,451 people have been infected with dengue in the division, with 2,222 recovering and 222 currently receiving treatment in hospitals. Acting Divisional Health Director Dr. Wazed Ali urged citizens to keep homes and surroundings clean to eliminate Aedes mosquito breeding sites and seek medical advice promptly upon showing fever symptoms.
