To prevent irregularities in fertilizer management, the upazila administration conducted a drive on Wednesday morning and intercepted a nosimon (local motorized vehicle) carrying 24 sacks of fertilizer. In connection with the incident, BCIC main dealer Subhash Datta was fined Tk 30,000 under Section 12(1) of the Fertilizer Management Act, 2006.

It was reported that the 24 sacks of fertilizer were handed over by Subhash Datta, the BCIC main dealer at Nakulhati Bazar in Atghar union under Saltha upazila of Faridpur district, to retail fertilizer seller Ohid of Gordia Bazar. However, acting on a tip-off that the fertilizer was being transported toward Kanaipur instead of its designated destination at Gordia Bazar, authorities verified the information.

Subsequently, a drive was conducted on the Kanaipur road, and the nosimon carrying the 24 sacks of fertilizer was intercepted. The driver, Ershad, failed to produce any relevant challan or receipt for transporting the fertilizer. When questioned, dealer Subhash Datta provided inconsistent statements. Consequently, he was fined Tk 30,000 (thirty thousand taka) under Section 12(1) of the Fertilizer Management Act, 2006.
