In a special drive in Ashulia, Savar, the Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) of Police has arrested a drug trader named Md. Zakir Hossain (50), along with a Yaba-making die and various other equipment. A total of 547 pieces of Yaba tablets were seized from him during the operation. However, Zakir's prime associate, Md. Ikran Sheikh (33), managed to flee the scene during the raid.
The matter was confirmed on Monday afternoon through a press release issued by Inspector Saidul Islam of the Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB). Earlier, on Sunday night (September 27), he was arrested during a raid in the South Bhadail area of Ashulia police station.
According to DB police, acting on information provided by the Dhaka District Police, DB police members on special duty near the Tahfizul Quran Madrasah in the Sreepur area of the Nabinagar-Chandra highway in Ashulia received a confidential tip around 11:00 PM on Sunday that drug production and trading were taking place in a room on the veranda of Zakir Hossain's residence in the South Bhadail area.
Later, informing higher authorities, a team from DB (North) raided the house and detained Zakir Hossain. At that time, 547 pieces of Yaba tablets weighing 54.7 grams, with an estimated street value of Tk 164,100, were recovered from him. Additionally, the raid yielded an iron die (mold) used for making Yaba, 275 grams of white-colored caffeine, 275 grams of light pink-colored caffeine, 82 grams of red-pink-colored caffeine, a hammer, and two small steel spoons from the house.
Inspector Saidul Islam of the Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) stated that during initial interrogation, arrested Zakir Hossain confessed to manufacturing Yaba in his own home for a long time and selling it wholesale and retail. There is a CR case pending against him. In connection with this incident, a case under the Narcotics Control Act has been filed against Zakir at the relevant police station, and he has been sent to court.
