The farewell reception and "Farewell and Physics Night 2026" for the graduating students of the 2018–19 academic session from the Department of Physics at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) have been successfully held. The event was organized by the Physics Association on Monday afternoon at the university's Swadhinata Chattar.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abul Hasnat Mohammad Shamim encouraged students to cultivate a curiosity for learning new things and to seek knowledge from others when uncertain. He emphasized that one should never give up in the face of obstacles or failures in life. Reflecting on his own academic journey, the Vice-Chancellor shared that despite not getting the opportunity to study medicine—his preferred subject—he did not stop; instead, he strove to excel in the field he was assigned. He urged students to remember the sacrifices and contributions of their parents and to become good human beings who honor that legacy. Furthermore, he noted that individuals must build their own value, reminding them that those who do not understand their own worth will not be valued by others. "Dreams are the fuel for life's journey—never stop dreaming," he added.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan, Faculty of Science Dean Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Reza, and Acting Proctor Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman attended as special guests. The event was presided over by the Head of the Department of Physics, Professor Dr. Md. Khairul Alam.
In his speech as a special guest, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam assured students that the university's teachers will always stand by them wherever they go in the future, noting that the institution's reputation is deeply tied to their success. He called upon them to uphold the dignity of the university through their competence and integrity in the professional world. Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahsan remarked that challenging times lie ahead for the graduates, and the more they equip themselves with skills and qualifications, the brighter and more successful their lives will be.
The program featured the presentation of honors to the graduating students of the 2018–19 session and prize distributions for the winners of indoor games organized by the department. The evening concluded with a vibrant cultural segment. Teachers, students, and various officials from the university attended the event.
